The Series 130 can carry 299 passengers at a speed of 250 kphThe first AVE train to come out of the Renfe yards at Los Prados in Málaga is an AVE Series 130, and also the first unit to be built in its entirety at any one Renfe workshop, with eleven carriages and two engines. It has the capacity for 299 passengers, is able to travel on both conventional and high speed lines and can reach a top speed of 250 kph. Los Prados will build a further six units.The Development Minister, Magdalena Álvarez, was at Los Prados on Monday to see the new train, with the President of Renfe Spanish Railways, José Salgueiro.Los Prados was refitted to construct high speed trains, and will also produce five complete hotel trains, the Trenhotel. The first of two such units currently under production is expected to leave the yard in March next year, and the second in April. Production will start in July 2009 on 14 Series 102 AVE trains, which has a top speed of 330 kph.The new Renfe maintenance yard at Los Prados is due to start work this Saturday, the day before the official inauguration of the new high speed line from Málaga to Madrid.
